PUBLIC WORKS MAINTENANCE WORKER

Under general direction of the Public Works Crew Leader. Performs skilled and semi-skilled general labor, to maintain infrastructure, facilities and grounds for the City of White Oak, including but not limited to water distribution; storm/sanitary sewer water collection; streets and alleys. In coordination with the Utility Billing Department, performs meter reading, connects and disconnects, repairs and replaces water utility meters and components. Complies with all safety regulations and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs a variety of specialized equipment operation and labor tasks in order to maintain streets, roadways, water and sewer systems, infrastructure and facilities as assigned. Duties will vary according to job assignment. Reports problems and emergency situations; recognizes, avoids and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries. Provides customer service and responds to questions within scope of authority. Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, with exposure to moderate noise levels and hazardous equipment. Requires constant physical efforts, standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing, kneeling and driving. Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 80 pounds.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, DEGREES, CERTIFICATES/OR LICENSES:
High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License. Must obtain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 180 days of employment.
Ability to obtain a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Class C Water License and TCEQ Collection License Class 1.
