Ferris Ellis # 103 – Master P.O.
Sgt. Ellis is a 1984 graduate of Gladewater High School. He also attended Kilgore Junior College and the Community College of the Air Force. Sgt. Ellis enlisted in the Air Force in 1990 and served through 1994. He specialized in electronics during his time of service. In 1996 he attended and graduated from the Waco Police Academy. He was then hired by the Waco Police Department that same year. In 1998 he returned to North East Texas where he went to work for the Gilmer Police Department and eventually promoted to sergeant. In 2004 he came to the White Oak Police Department where he was hired on as a patrol sergeant. By 2008 he made a switch over to Investigator where he has been since. He has certificates in Special Investigations and Homicide Investigations, among other training over a broad range of topics and he has earned his Master Peace Officer Certificate. He earned Officer of the Year awards in 2007 and 2016 and has received civic group commendations in 2002 from the Veterans of Foreign Wars and in 2012 from the Sons of the American Revolution. Sgt. Ellis is relentless in his investigations and he is known as an investigator that won’t quit until the job is done. As long as a case is open, he will be putting in the effort to close it. All patrolmen here know that if they can’t complete a case on their own, it will no doubt be put in good hands.
